Could someone tell me the rules on fishing here? In az we had to buy a lisence to fish each year, where would I go to get one for my husband, its his bday next month. Thanks!

Cat♥ --- 177 days ago -

you do have to have one.. you can get it at walmart in the hunting/fishing section.. i want to say its $15 for local and $35 for non..

Jacky --- 177 days ago -

You have to bring in proof of residence and have been a resident for 60 days to get the $15 rate.... I lied and said I had lived here for 6 months.

FlamingoLuver --- 177 days ago -

okay cool thank you!!

Cat♥ --- 177 days ago -

yeah, my brother just used his Drivers License with the NC addy..

FlamingoLuver --- 177 days ago -

well we will have to pay the nonresident since we are from arizona but its cheaper here than in az and hunting here seems better.

Deb --- 177 days ago -

Do you have a lease with a NC address? If so, bring it with you to get the instate rate.

Deb --- 177 days ago -

Or a utility bill will work too.

FlamingoLuver --- 177 days ago -

Yes we have our housing lease since we live on base and a cable bill since we dont pay utilities

Deb --- 177 days ago -

There you go - proof of residence.

Jamie --- 177 days ago -

If you want to fish on base, you have to have both a state and a base fishing license. The base one is like $5 and you can get it at the customer service desk at the Exchange. You have to renew both every year.

FlamingoLuver --- 177 days ago -

Oh okay didnt know that, thanks :)

OhIoLaDy --- 177 days ago -

Also you have to have a fresh water and a salt water license (2 sep) and they can't be used on base. Better to have both because even when you THINK its one type the game warden will tell you otherwise :(

Jamie --- 177 days ago -

The base ponds are only fresh water so you don't need salt water if you are only going to fish on base. We've had the base game warden ask for our licenses, but never say anything about needing salt water, all we have is fresh.

OhIoLaDy --- 177 days ago -

I wasn't on base but someone at walmart told us we need 2 for off base and 2 for on

Jamie --- 177 days ago -

I wasn't on base but someone at walmart told us we need 2 for off base and 2 for on For the base, we have to have 2, the state freshwater and the base license. I'm not sure about off base. Did you get both?

Military gets state fee

Deb --- 177 days ago -

Military gets state fee Not exactly true. A RESIDENT who is in the Military and serving in another location doesn't need to get a license when they are here on leave for 30 day or less... •A resident of this state who is a member of the Armed Forces of the United States serving outside the state, or who is on full-time military duty outside the state in a reserve component of the Armed Forces of the United States is exempt from hunting, inland and coastal fishing license requirements while on leave in this state for 30 days or less. Those who qualify for this exemption shall carry on his or her person at all times, during the hunting or fishing activity, their military identification card and a copy of the official document confirming they are on authorized leave from a duty station outside of North Carolina.

countrygrl --- 177 days ago -

Well my husband and I are not from here. When he went to get his fishing license all he had to do was show his military Id and got the resident fee.

Deb --- 177 days ago -

Yes, you get instate rate. I'm so sorry, I thought you posted FREE, not fee. :-)

countrygrl --- 177 days ago -

Lol, that's ok. I was just like I know I wasn't going crazy. I'm glad they do get instate. My husband loves to fish.

FlamingoLuver --- 176 days ago -

So in order to get my husband liscence for the resident fee i need his id?? Or can i just use our lease?? I want to give it to him as part of his birthday gift so he wont be with me when i buy it.

Deb --- 176 days ago -

You just need your lease.

countrygrl --- 176 days ago -

She can only get it in her name. Hubby tried to get me one while he was getting his. They said I had to be there and I was only on the other side of the store

OhIoLaDy --- 176 days ago -

Yeah you gotta show them your Id
