I'm moving to Slocum village next month and need to join a gym. Are there any in the area, and would anyone be willing to accompany me? I know myself and without someone to motivate me the only workout I'll get is spoon to ice cream to mouth...repeat12x.  

My guess is that everyone is gunna tell you to go to Gold's Gym

That's the truth.. You should swing by for my Scentsy Open House tonight at Gold's 4pm-6pm I'll get you a vistor's pass and show you around the gym.. Get you hooked up with Tim and he'll tell you about the rates and such.. I'm fairly certain there are at least 6 members from CPU who go regualarly.. I know 14 signed up, but I dont see them all on a regular basis.. 

My husband doesn't get off until 430 but hopefully another day I can drop him off and head out there to find out about the prices.

Is anyone going to the yoga classes on base? I remeber someone talking about that before... 

I heard there is a spin class on base, is that true? 

ashley (karn) does the yoga, and did the spin once but i guess it was all marines. haha she was the only civilian. 

oh and thats on base--yes. they have water aerobics tonight! wanna go? its suprisingly fun, and good for pregnant people!

I do Yoga on Fridays, Miranda does some of the classes too. My question would be why don't you want to use the free gyms available to you? I can't bring myself to pay for a membership when I know I have a perfectly good gym on base.

why don't you want to use the free gyms available to you? For those of us who have children and who's husbands deploy frequently having a gym membership that provides FREE childcare is PRICELESS!! By the time I pay for childcare and pay to take the classes on base every month, I have paid for my membership at the gym... 

Ditto on the childcare. I look at it this way, for $20 a month I get 2 hours a day in childcare, tanning, and a gym membership. You can not beat that anywhere. Plus, paying for the membership makes me go, because I dont wanna waste my money. 

Plus I dont have to fight a group PT session for the equiptment, lol. 

I didn't know they had all that on base, I live in new bern currently. 

I go to Gold's too. Been going all week and I've been looking for a familiar face and haven't seen one yet! I'm there around 830 M-Sat.

Plus, the kids care at the gym is open later than the CDC so if I was unable to make it to the gym during CDC hours, I still have the kids care at the gym I can utilize. Having a gym membership is just a much better alternative for me! 

Wow you go to the gym more than 10 hours a week? You must be ripped to shreds lol 

To me the tanning alone makes it worth it, heck you can pay 20 a month for that alone.
