YAY!!!!! :)

nikki --- 211 days ago -

Heck No, looking like Mid march. He left Jan 09. Everytime I get my hopes up they extend another month, so I am trying not to get worked up until I know he is on the plane.

qwifezyionmom --- 210 days ago -

wow...do all marines at cherry point do 13mo deployments? We are moving there from Camp Pendleton and my hubby has only had one deployment his whole career and that was in '07...but his unit here only does 6mo.

Amapeli --- 210 days ago -

my dh used to go for 9m deps when we were at 29 then we moved here and it was 7 for 3 of those deployments, then the one to afghanistan was a 13m but he had to come home early from that one because I had kidney failure :( we are now going back to 29 in a couple weeks! :)

Karnagia-a --- 210 days ago -

No, qwifeyz - they don't all go on 13 month deployments. My DH deployed for 12 months but came home a month early. Ash's situation is a bit different. It all depends on the unit. MOST Marine units don't go for more than 7 months.

Amapeli --- 210 days ago -

If I remember correctly, MOST(as karn said) dep 7m but you can 'extend' to a year... some units offer incentives and what not for those who extend. My dh's unit was auto 1 year to afghan though and i was heartbroken bc I wasnt sure he would even be home for the birth of the baby(he was though) bc the departure date was changed to later...

Mine hubs tend to deployed 8 months at a time. At the end of the day you never know.

DVM (in training) --- 210 days ago -

SO GLAD to hear about your hubby's homecoming!! WOO HOO!! I do read threads like this w/ a heavy heart sometimes. & maybe this is "backwards", but... My Hubs wants to deploy SO bad. This coming June, he'll have been in for 4 years. He's deployed once. Every time something looks good for him to be able to deploy, it falls through. So my heart breaks for him. I'm CERTAINLY glad that he's home, don't get me wrong. But the wife & best friend in me really want him to be happy & do what he's been trained to do. Does that make sense? Sorry to thread jack. ;-)
